our history

a step of faith

In Spring 2002, Marcos and Letticia Zuniga were called to start a non-denominational church. It's mission to reach out to the individuals and families of the Permian Basin and give them a strong connection to the Lord Jesus Christ through a lifestyle of prayer, worship and reading the word. They hosted their first church service in a small store front on Dixie where 70 family members and friends joined them for worship. As the church grew in the Spring 2003, New Life Chapel began meeting in an old church building on 37th street behind Permian High School averaging about 100. Growing into the building, renovations were made completing a new sanctuary seating over 200 and bigger classrooms for children and youth in Fall 2004.

As the word was preached and more members were connected to Jesus Christ, New Life again faced a shortage of space. Many different plans were discussed as where to move, where to find land to build or if we just needed to stay put and adjust. But as always, God was faithful and had a very bold move for New Life! A large, well established church was building a new campus and had put their current facilities up for sale. Plans started in the Summer 2007 for the purchase of their 1300 seat Sanctuary, Youth and Children's buildings. God provided the facilities ready to move into and on November 11th, 2007, we had our 1st service in our current location at 914 N. Texas Avenue!

This year, we're celebrating 15 years of CONNECTING PEOPLE TO JESUS CHRIST! We as a church body, plan on moving forward with great expectations to keep reaching our community and equipping many overcoming believers that are influencing the world around them with a lifestyle of worship, prayer and reading the Word! Our next big move will be our NEW Ministry building that will house up to 400 in our Student and Young Adult ministries. Please be in prayer as we continue our next phase to make room to reach more people for the cause of Jesus Christ! New Life's story is still unfolding and continuing to grow today, like never before. We invite you to join us at our weekend service for an opportunity for you to connect with God and our church family.
